Something on my radar is… unfortch Kari Lake, 2x election loser, election denier, and a whole host of other heinous things, being picked by Trump to lead the Voice of America. It’ll still depend on a bipartisan board in terms of whether she fully gets the job, but the fact that the goal is him installing an ardent conspiracy theorist and propagandist to a media role is so scary. -Maddie

A read that you should drop in the group chat is… this one on the people behind the pardons or really what I mean is the people that Biden has recently pardoned. The process that’s described of trying to get a pardon is so interesting itself too. -Maddie

A TikTok trend I’m LOling at is… this one, which isn’t really a trend, it’s just a funny/accurate in my opinion depiction of what a 1980s Senator’s wife would be like. The vision is just THERE and executed perfectly. -Maddie

A show I’m binging right now is… Bad Sisters on Apple TV. It’s SO good. All I can really say is that prick is a PRICK. IYKYK. -Maddie

A trend I’m so over is… guys thinking that making their cars or motorcycles loud is a flexi. Is your goal to be so loud that we can’t think??? So patriarchy of them honestly now that I think about it. But also, just generally, SHUT UP, the noise is so not necessary. It’s literally pollution. -Maddie

Advice I’d give to someone looking to be more in the loop with politics is… to pick an issue area that you personally really care about, and focus there first. There are so many issue areas and intersections, and just noise, which can be so overwhelming, so narrowing the scope a bit can be super helpful. Then hit the Google and see where it takes you. -Maddie

Something on my radar is… the fact that a bill has been refiled in the South Carolina state leg, that if passed, would enable women that receive reproductive healthcare in the state to be tried for murder. So, pro-women and life of them! Let’s make some noise and stop this. -Sammy

A read that you should drop in the group chat is… this one on Bezo’s helping to fund Trump’s inauguration jamboree. Maybe a little less on the Amazon Prime spending, ya? -Sammy

A TikTok trend I’m LOling at is… obviiii the one featuring Pepe where everyone is sharing the most insane stories that have been locked in the vault, including this one that has become “olive oil girl.” And while I love SO many of these stories, this one is my fave because of the way this brand jumped on the PR opportunity. Absolutely genius. -Sammy

A show I’m binging right now is… obvi Southern Charm. I never saw the early seasons, so I’ve been going back and diving in. The political piece of it with TRav…. I mean these are some of my thoughts on it, but it’s truly insane the way that the things that killed his political career ten years ago, wouldn’t be deal breakers for people today. We literally went backward. -Sammy 

A trend I’m so over is… when elected officials who are on their way out, like didn’t run for re-election, try to keep themselves in the midst of press stories and pot stirring [Joe Manchin, I’m especially looking at you, bud]. First of all, it’s annoying in general, but if you wanted all the attention, why didn't you just run for re-election?? Like, hello?? -Sammy 

Advice I’d give to someone looking to be more in the loop with politics is… to start with our newsletter, The Gov Hub – yes, absolutely shameless self-promo rn. There’s political news, updates, etc in a way that’s actually fun to read and with action items that bring you more into the zone than you were before, and in a way that sustains that interest IMO. -Sammy

  • The Saffron Road sea salt crunchy chickpeas are to dieeeeee. TBH, all the flavors are good, but this one has just been hitting lately. How are you supposed to not eat these all in one setting? BEATS ME.

  • We were #blessed to receive holiday cards from the Prez and the VEEP <3. Little card reveal here (the last we’ll probs have for the next four years LOL).

  • Low key this old school trend of using necklaces or other jewelry to add lil’ something, something to boots, is kind of fire. If you see us with boot charms, just know this vid is what sparked the idea.

  • This TikTok showing a Martini tray got us inspired, and led to us coming across this one, which is dif but just hits. We’re in our martini x cowgirl era perhaps, which actually makes sense given how many country songs were on our Spotify Wrapped playlists.

  • This mashup that’s coming to Gramercy Theater in Jan. aka Sabrina Brier x Ariana Madix chatting about friendship. NEED THE TIX.

  • The evolving scandal that is Don Jr’s affair meets ex fiancé meets possible ambassador to Greece that was once married to Governor Newsom is something that not even a reality tv producer could come up with.

  • For a scarier reality, Canada might cut off the energy supply we get from them because… orange man. COOL, COOL, nothing to worry about here!

  • In the NJ Governor race that’s heating up for 2025, one of the candidates apparently lied about his top artist on Spotify wrapped being Bruce Springsteen. Perhaps, do less…?! For a candidate that hasn’t lied about Bruce Springsteen, there’s this one.
