“I would like my approach of respecting everyone to contrast with the disrespect that we are seeing right now.” -Congresswoman-elect Sarah McBride

Something that people should keep their eye on… is the possibility of recess appointments, a sneaky wacky way for Trump to possibly push his nominees through that honestly I thought we’d done away with but turns out not really? You can tell your senators hell no by sending them a note here. -Maddie Something that gives me hope is… that according to our friends at Run For Something, about 10,000 people have signed up to learn about what running for office would look like (since election day), expressing interest that they might pursue that path. More solid candidates = more solid wins. -Maddie Something that’s getting lost in the political sauce is… that Joe Rogan contingent of the world says some of the same things that we do like “our democracy is on the line.” And while obviously I don’t agree with their POV at all, I see how hearing this messaging from both sides could be really confusing to a voter. I don’t quite know how we solve this, but there’s something there for sure. -Maddie Something that’s simply heinous is… how even with Gaetz out of the line of contention for attorney general, at least two other nominees for cabinet positions have a history with sexual assault allegations, one has been involved in an alleged child abuse scandal, another at the alleged helm of a diet pills scam… like go to the circus and expect clowns, sure, but this is just awful from every possible humanity angle. -Maddie | Something that people should keep their eye on… is the fact that Georgia has dismissed its Maternal Mortality Committee after ProPublica revealed that the state’s abortion laws have resulted in deaths. As Jessica Valenti has been reporting, moves like these are purposeful and aim to cover up the results of cruel laws that not only deny women life-saving healthcare, but cause their deaths. -Sammy Something that gives me hope is… that in New Mexico, women have won 60 state legislative seats literally creating the largest female majority in U.S. history. Like, OKAY??? Pop off and keep it coming!! -Sammy Something that’s getting lost in the political sauce is… that winning seats requires sound infrastructure not just in media, but in the political career space. We need well-trained campaign staff and young people leading county parties. Orgs like Arena are leading on this, and donors need to get the picture duh on how if they actually want return on their investment, they need to build bottom-up, not top-down. -Sammy Something that’s simply heinous is… a member of Congress – Nancy Mace bullying our first openly transgender woman representative in Congress and using her bullying insanity to fundraise. Oh, and as Sarah McBride says herself, distract from the real issues at hand impacting Americans across this country. The whole thing is just so awful, and I can only at least hope that people are seeing the impressive and gracious leadership that Congresswoman-elect McBride is showing. -Sammy |

TAKE ACTION – TELL CONGRESS TO PASS THE TREAT & REDUCE OBESITY ACT
Brought to readers on behalf of the Health Equity Coalition for Chronic Disease
Obesity is a serious, progressive, and chronic disease. But it is also treatable and preventable. This Congress has the power to immediately expand Medicare access to obesity medicines, which could help vulnerable populations AND save taxpayers up to $245 billion over a decade. Congress can address this crisis by passing H.R. 4818/S. 2407: the Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA), which would expand access to critical obesity medications for millions of Americans enrolled in Medicare.
