A podcast I’m listening to is… Okay, so I should be really more on my podcast listening game right now because I’ve spent so much time on planes and in airports recently, but you know it is. Sooo let’s go with one that Sam recommended and I’ve got downloaded to start when I get my shit together. It’s called Between Us Girlies, and Sam is always sending me clips and then actually met one of the hosts at her Shapiro summer camp event. What episode should I start with? -Maddie

An article I think everyone should read is… this one talking about which U.S. presidents didn’t run for a second term. It’s def one where some you’re like “duh I knew that” and others where you’re like “did I learn anything in school??” I know Thanksgiving is after the election, but if you have a family reunion of sorts coming up like I just had, this is a fun piece to have in your back pocket. -Maddie

A story that shouldn’t fall under the radar is… let’s see… Trump questioning Kamala’s race, JD Vance not understanding the concept of biracial despite having two biracial kids, JD Vance coming for “single, childless cat ladies” and doubling down on it… I mean how much time do we have for this clown show? -Maddie

My favorite falling out of a coconut tree remix ATM is… actually not even a coconut tree remix, it’s the head of the Young Dems in Georgia that went viral for throwing his moves down at Kamala’s rally in Georgia this week. The energy is electric. Like okay Parker??? Pop off, king. -Maddie

A “woohoo!!” moment is… this big win for Amtrak workers who just secured a massively significant wage increase! Should it be more? I will surmise so. Is it still a BFD and step in the right direction? Uh, yes. As Amtrak girlypops we love to see it. -Maddie

A podcast I’m listening to is… The Gynarchy Podcast hosted by Dr. Kirti Patel! Excitingly I worked on bringing this project to life [yes, we do podcast consulting HMU if you’re in the market], and I could not be more excited for people to tune into it. It’s focused on women’s health and feminism, and the first three episodes are live including an episode with Jessica Pin and another with Dr. Diane Horvath. Highly rec subscribing! -Sammy

An article I think everyone should read is… this mini deep dive on heat laws or the lack of them in the majority of states and the dangers of that reality for workers. The comparison to patchy COVID regulation rollouts is super interesting. -Sammy

A story that shouldn’t fall under the radar is… this one focused on the back and forth in Kansas around a voter suppression law pushed by the state GOP, vetoed by the Democratic Governor, overridden by the GOP state leg, and derided by voting rights groups. It’s also a good example of reaching beyond the headline, because I totally thought this was going in a dif direction when I first saw it. -Sammy

My favorite falling out of a coconut tree remix ATM is… is this classic and the way that VITA Coconut water jumped in on the trend. -Sammy

A “woohoo!!” moment is… this story out of Michigan, where the state Supreme Court restored minimum wage and sick leave laws that had gotten the uno reverse treatment from the state GOP. Aka we’re back baaaby!! -Sammy
