“Well, in my mind, it’s like, would you rather have dysentery or the flu?” – former GOP Rep. Kinzinger on GOP candidates in VA’s primary
Something that should be on people’s radars is… that benefits from the Inflation Reduction Act, namely climate focused benefits are continuing to roll out, including this tax break program to incentivize paying green energy workers more. -Maddie An article that I think is a must-read is… this piece by ProPublica on a bill that just passed in Congress that would fund stillbirth prevention measures and related research. -Maddie A podcast [beside ours] I want to tune into is… this episode of City Cast Denver on Lauren Boebert. It’s literally called “Lauren Boebert Can’t Lose: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” soo you know it’s going to be juicy…or at least I hope it is? -Maddie A heat wave necessity I can’t live without is… this coconut water, and every once in a while, a Mango vitamin water. At least I think that’s what the flavor is? -Maddie A political story to tell your group chat about is… this analysis of Trump’s possible VP picks. It’s one of those that gives nightmare fuel, but it also shows the reality that Trump is insane and his possible VPs aren’t much better – in fact, their fan girls and enablers. -Maddie A GATG eppy to rec to a friend is… since we’re talking all about social media and social media regulation on this week’s epi… this one with Congressman Maxwell Frost on the TikTok ban bill is a good warm-up or precursor. -Maddie | Something that should be on people’s radars is… after SCOTUS struck down the federal bump stock ban last week, Schumer brought a bipartisan bill to the floor to ban the accessories that turn guns into machine guns. Republicans blocked it. Lives were saved with that law in place. Blocking it when mass shootings have become as common as blue sky on a sunny day, is insane. -Sammy An article that I think is a must-read is… this one on the Boeing CEO hearings and this one on the latest whistleblower. -Sammy A podcast [beside ours] I want to tune into is… this new NCIS rewatch podcast. A rewatch podcast is SO not my style, but IYKYK and you probably heard me chat about why this is an exception to the rule on this eppy of ours. -Sammy A heat wave necessity I can’t live without are… these Drip Drop hydration packets, which I tried because I saw they were GMO free and also half the price of Liquid I.V. Also, the Kiwi Strawberry Propel absolutely slaps. -Sammy A political story to tell your group chat about is… Biden’s most recent executive order on immigration that aims to keep families together. This fact sheet gives the 411 on what it is and who it impacts. -Sammy A GATG eppy to rec to a friend is…our interview with Will Rollins who is running for Congress in Southern California. I would almost put money on it that every subscriber of this newsletter knows someone in SoCal they could send it to. -Sammy |
An interview with Congressman Auchincloss [D-MA]
How does being the youngest parent in Congress impact how one thinks about policy and its impacts? It’s a question we asked Congressman Auchincloss [D-MA] who has made one of his central policy focuses online safety. And to that, we chat about legislative change and cultural change that’s needed to improve the mental health of kids and adults alike, keep kids safe online, and encourage more touching grass time.
