“Did you fall on your head or something” - President Biden to a reporter

A story that I’m keeping tabs on is…the continual fuckery of Justice Alito and his flags, and the fact that we’re en route to June when major SCOTUS decisions will be released. TYSM for the anxiety and the playbook on how to not do your job correctly and yet still keep it. I can’t, but I can point everyone in the direction of our episode on the need for SCOTUS term limits. -Maddie

A show I can’t stop watching is… insecure – rewatching this [oops]. Then also watching Summer House and the Summer House After Show because of COURSE I am, but you guys already knew this. Also, if you’re watching the finale tonight, this drinking game should be on tap. Oh, and I’m impatiently awaiting the rest of Bridgerton. LIKE HURRY UP PEOPLE. -Maddie

Something I’m excited about is… my August trip to Denver!! Although, the flight situation is definitely something I could’ve lived without dealing with. -Maddie

Something I want to make sure people tell their friends is… that state and local races are so underrated. Their results can mean whether you have an abortion ban in your state, or if you have leaders that believe in climate change, or if your schools are funded. Honestly, SO much, and what impacts you on the day to day. It’s hard to distill the impact, but it’s huge, and something to narrow your focus on. One of the states where the state leg makeup could change is PA and these – so if you’re in any state, but esp these, have your friends tap into who is running near them. -Maddie

A story that I’m keeping tabs on is… yet another story out of Louisiana because the state leg there passed a bill that would require public school classrooms to display the ten commandments. Will the GOP governor sign the bill? We’ll see – but what the hell happened to separation between church and state?? Very curious to see if any lawsuits come out of this. Also, y’all are going to defund public schools and give vouchers to parents to send their kids to often religion-based private schools, but then make the public schools religious anyway? Make it make sense. -Sammy

A show I can’t stop watching is… Buying London on Netflix! I watched the whole szn let’s be real, sooo now I’m hoping they bring it back for another season. I love an escapist melodramatic real estate reality show apparently.  -Sammy

Something I’m excited about is… THE PANDAS ARE COMING BACK TO DC!! I never got to see the past Pandas, so I’m excited to take a spin by next time I’m in DC. So excited, and always love this type of diplomacy.  -Sammy

Something I want to make sure people tell their friends is… that the Texas GOP endorsed the policy proposal of the death penalty for those that access abortion care. How pro-life of them. But seriously, take this seriously, and make sure your friends know that this is where they stand and what their plans are policy-wise. It seems to be slipping through the cracks for a lot of people, which is so dangerous (and what the GOP hopes happens).  -Sammy

ON THE POD: GIVING TED CRUZ A PINK SLIP

Rep. Colin Allred on running for US Senate to beat Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz could lose his job this year. Not exactly a devastating loss to say the least. But the focus should be on what would be gained if this happens, specifically if Texas Congressman Colin Allred wins the race [for US Senate]. From our convo with the Congressman, it would mean more bipartisan solutions, more wins for veterans, more wins for healthcare access, and a Senator that doesn’t flee the state during a weather crisis.

There’s a lot on the [yard] line for Texans [and this country] according to the multi-hyphenate Congressman [pro football player-voting rights lawyer-Texas native-Congressman to name a few of the many], this year, and his campaign is bringing that message across the state, and to this episode of the podcast, which you can tune into via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.
