The Yapper's Digest: Scandals, Bieber Baby, Montana Boyz

“I offer to eat five more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate.” – RFK Jr.

“I offer to eat five more brain worms and still beat President Trump and President Biden in a debate.” – RFK Jr.

Something I’m listening to is… Well I’ve become more of a podcast watcher, so I’m watching/listening to the Toast episode with Justin Sylvester. SO funny. -Maddie

The most insane political happening this week is… We literally started off the week with Rep. Cuellar being indicted on corruption charges out the wazoo. Then there’s the Stormy Daniels sitch, which who can even focus on because then you also have Trump telling major oil companies to give him money and he’ll ‘protect’ them if elected. WHAT IS GOING ON??? -Maddie

A 2-minute read that I recommend is… not to give anyone nightmare fuel, but really to make people aware, this read runs through a man in Michigan who’s running for sheriff who was acquitted of supporting a plot to kidnap Big Gretch, which like how this man was acquitted… Anyways, he also is a gun lover. Shocker. -Maddie

Something that made me go ‘oh!’ or ‘welp!’ is… a super not good sitch in South Carolina, where a bill outlawing gender affirming care for minors in the state passed and is now headed to the governor’s desk [he’s expected to sign it btw]. -Maddie

Something I’m listening to is… the Absolutely Not Podcast with Heather McMahan, specifically her eppy with Zachariah Porter who is an absolutely hilarious TikTok’er. Love them both, loving the listen. -Sammy

The most insane political happening this week is… For the love of God there are SO many happening, it’s hard to pick one. I’m going to have to go with RFK Jr. literally having a brain damage/memory issues from having a brain eating worm in his head that had to be removed. Like, first and foremost, that’s horrible. Second, this is so 2024 absurd coded. Thirdly, that explains all that wacky conspiracy theories this guy lives by and odd behavior. And lastly, this man CANNOT be president. -Sammy

A 2-minute read that I recommend is… USA Today [my fave, y’all know] did a wrap up report on the Hawai’i state legislature’s session – what was passed, what wasn’t etc. It’s not everything under the sun, but it gives you a quick snapshot of what they worked on this year. -Sammy

Something that made me go ‘oh!’ or ‘welp!’ is… Barron Trump being selected to be a Florida delegate at the Republican National Convention. What an interesting route for a nepo baby. -Sammy

THE MONTANA BOYS & RUNNING FOR GOVERNOR

On the pod: Ryan Busse, candidate for Montana Gov

All eyes have been on Montana since the Montana Boyz burst onto the scene, but they really should be on this candidate for governor of Montana – Ryan Busse. On this episode, we chat with Ryan about his campaign, what drove him to run for office, and of course, the best things Montana has to offer. If you’ve been curious about Montana [literally we cannot wait to go] or its politics [it’s the wild west, literally], this interview will clue you in, which you can tune into on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.

ACTION ITEM: KEEP ANTI-OBESITY MEDS AFFORDABLE - SAVE LIVES

Tell Congress to fix outdated Medicare Part D policies that don’t include AOMs

Obesity care should be affordable for everyone. Yet, only 10% of people with obesity get help from medical professionals, and as few as 2% are treated with new anti-obesity medications. The resulting economic and physical toll is staggering: $173 billion in annual medical costs and 400,000 premature deaths each year. Treatment can help – but only if it’s accessible and affordable, which for seniors it often isn’t because it’s not covered by Medicare Part D. In other words, beneficiaries under 65 years of age who are covered under private insurance for AOMs lose coverage for AOMs [treatment] once they reach 65 under Medicare. About 4.1 million Americans are going to turn 65 starting in 2024 and every year through 2027. Tell Congress to act now and prevent thousands from losing their coverage for anti-obesity medications.
